Weekend Destination: About Lake Chelan

June 22, 2014/Jonathan Rundle/0 Comments

Whitney and I (and our dog Graham) have decided to head to Lake Chelan for the first time today. Nearly everyone I know in Seattle has been there (much like Hawaii) so it’s about time we took the trip. “You haven’t been to Chelan?!”

Things to know

Lake Chelan is the 26th deepest lake in the world and the third deepest in the good ‘ol US of A. Only Crater and Tahoe are deeper. Naturally, that makes it the largest lake in Washington State. The lake’s maximum depth is 1,486 feet.

It gets hot in Eastern Washington. We’re supposed to hit 75 in Seattle today, meanwhile in Chelan it will be in the mid-90s.

About the Photo

This photo was taken from Rt. 971, which is the way to get to Lake Chelan State Park. I highly recommend taking this route because you get this great photo opportunity and it is a road less traveled. We even spotted a few friends hanging out in the middle of the road.
